Day 3: Friday May 22nd, 2026 – Sissinghurst Castle and Great Dixter
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing for Sissinghurst Castle located Southeast of London. Vita Sackville-West, the poet and writer, began transforming Sissinghurst Castle in the 1930s with her diplomat and author husband, Harold Nicolson. Harold’s architectural planning of the garden rooms, and the colorful, abundant planting in the gardens by Vita, reflect the romance and intimacy of her poems and writings. We will have lunch as a group at Sissinghurst before moving on to nearby Great Dixter in the afternoon.

Great Dixter is a vibrant and immersive garden with a 15th century house restored by Sir Edwin Lutyens and gardens created by gardener and garden writer Christopher Lloyd. The gardens are on the cutting edge of innovation in the gardening world, placing emphasis on ecological gardening, biodiversity, and horticultural education.
We will return to London in the late afternoon so you can enjoy dinner on your own at a restaurant of your choice.

These urban gardens are great examples of using creative, small space gardening techniques to pack in the plants, yet still preserve an attractive design. After the garden tours, we will walk to have a group
lunch nearby. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore London on your own. You may want to take a river boat ride down Thames or see a show at the West End Theater or Shakespeare play in the evening.

Day 5: Sunday May 24th, 2026 – Travel to Exeter
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and board the coach to Exeter. We will stop for lunch on the way at Malverleys Farm and Dining. Set on a small farm on the edge of the picturesque Wessex Downs, Malverley’s food is inspired by the changing seasons and ingredients from their market garden. Emily Von Opel’s vision for Malverleys was born out of a lifelong love of the countryside and gardens, and a wish to offer the wider community an opportunity to enjoy the benefits a small farm and local business can provide. Through Emily’s enthusiasm, and with the help of a dedicated team, Malverleys Farm and Dining is a celebration of wholesome produce and seasonal cooking. The menus are shaped by the seasons and the traditional cooking of France and Italy.
After lunch we will continue on to Exeter with an early evening arrival. Once you have checked in to your room you are free to explore the area on your own and find dinner at one of the many choices nearby.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing for the day to the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan, two famous gardens in Cornwall. We will spend the morning exploring the Eden project which used to be a barren
landscape – a former clay mine with no soil or plants. They transformed this huge crater into a beautiful global garden with massive covered Biomes and outdoor gardens. We will take a tour through one of the world’s largest indoor rainforests here. Enjoy lunch independently at Eden Project before we head to the Lost Gardens of
Heligan in the afternoon. Lost to time, this 100 year old Victorian Garden was abandoned after World War I, then rediscovered 25 years ago. Now the grandeur of the ornamental plantings and production gardens have been restored. Return to Exeter in the evening.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS: There is only one airport transfer provided by the coach on the arrival day and the departure day. If you arrive a day earlier or depart later you are responsible for your own airport transport.
ACTIVITY LEVEL DESCRIPTION: KEEP THE PACE ~ I like to spend much of the day exploring. Whether walking through historic neighborhoods at an energetic pace or out and about on a coach, stairs, walking up hills, village cobblestones and uneven surfaces don’t bother me and I love to keep up with the group.
